Stephen Toon is a worship leader and pastor, songwriter, producer and musician. He's married to Lisa and they have 4 amazing boys. HE has been leading worship, writing songs and recording for over 25 years, and for the last 5 years he's been 'Worship pastor and artist in residence' at Timbers Community Church in Prince George, BC, recording under their Timbers Music label.
Growing up on bands like Steely Dan and the indigo girls, he also became a huge fan of radiohead, u2, the tragically hip, and especially wilco. not afraid to express himself through different genres, his songs range from straight ahead rock to country, and are influenced by funk, blues, and pop through the ages.
Stephen shines as a worship leader, always leaving space and time for the holy spirit to do his thing, and never apologizes for taking risks if it's for the building up of the body and getting closer to jesus.
when asked what songwriters he goes to when leading a worship set, his taste is diverse while staying within the rock and folk genre: Stuart Townend, Paul Oakley, Matt redman, Delirious, and more often than not, vineyard writers like Andy Park, Casey Corum, John and Marie Barnett, Graham Ord and more. Stephen's had a close connection to the Vineyard Church over the years, and has had the privilege of being personally mentored by Andy Park and Graham Ord, and enjoying the fellowship and teaching of many a great vineyard songwriter through various events and conferences.
While having played many retreats and conferences, he loves leading and serving in his local church and in smaller groups. it's all the same as it's always about seeking the Lord, blessing him and being in his presence.
Stephen has a B.A. in Church Music and is ordained with the Christian and missionary Alliance church in canada.
